The object has following layers
After making a copy of the object, the copied object lost all details
This is just a basic operation and Adobe can't make it work? Such a piece of crap...

In your first Appearance panel you have no selection.
In your second Appearance panel you have a group (what is in the content of the group?).
These cannot be compared.

For some reason, the copy/paste convert the Type to a group. I have no idea how it happens. It goes away after I reboot (restart illustrator won't help). But it comes back after couple of minutes use of illustrator. I am on the latest version.

If you double click on the contents of the group, do the fills and stroke appear?
What happens if you ungroup?

Which other software is running on the machine?
Do you have extensions installed in the system that "enhance" the clipboard?
How is the clipboard in Preferences > File handling & Clipboard set up?

I don't think I have other extensions installed. This is the first time installation on my machine I did couple of days ago. I am quite new to illustrator, I haven't even gone to using the "extensions" part yet.

Can you try and turn on AICB in your Preferences?
Also: the part about the extensions is not about Illustrator. It's about your system. So is there anything that messes with the clipboard? If you don't know that, ask your IT admin.

I created a demo. I can't upload it here, it says the format doesn't match the extension.

Try to copy and paste the word "Test" and reproduce it.

I'm copying appearances all the time.
Do you have any extensions in your system that enhance the clipboard?

Works fine, there must be something in your system that is interfering with copy/paste.
Try to run Illustrator without other apps active.

How do you copy, with the text tool or the selection tool (V)?

I use the selection tool. I use command + C & command + V.
But @pixxxelschubser mentioned alt + drag, it works for me. Thank you!

no issues, works fine with "Cut" and "Copy" operations. So, it seems that s problem is not with Illustrator but with Clipboard. Follow please Monika's advice to check the system extensions

Thank you very much, [Alt] + drag saved my day!
I think I should use A, not V

take it back - "I think I should use A, not V"
Only [Alt] + drag works.

Yes, it should because this operation does not use a Clipboard. But anyhow, check it, otherwise, one day you risk facing some more weird issues during copy/paste.
