create a vector pdf from a label in ai or pdf

My printer firm ask me for a vector PDF and I have only a standard PDF or the ai file. And the designer I cannot ask... 😞
I need this urgently and would be glad if somebody can explain me how to manage to get a vector pdf (I'm almost beginner in ai - and French :).

So you sent them a PDF and they are complaining?

The important question now is: is there vector content and the designer just chose to export a pixel based preview for you?

Or is the content made in a way that it cannot be turned into vector paths?

MAC,

A PDF can contain both raster and vector contents, or either.

It simply depends on what you save, so with pure vector artwork in your AI document you will get just as pure vector artwork in the PDF.
