Did you find everything you need and begin working with it?

Another option for you is to download Hot Door's CORE, which is based on the SDK. I use it for all of my plugins because it's simpler and it includes cross-platform support for UI elements. It doesn't include everything in the SDK, but if you ever need anything more you can still access the SDK in addition to CORE. You can find it here: HotDoorCORE.com

I haven't been able to use Xcode 10 with CORE, but Xcode 9.4 works perfectly with it under Mojave.

It would be great if we can see the plugins you are creating, as you are prepress operator like me, you must have great ideas for prepress features we miss in illustrator.  I have ideas too but I am not good at programming so I get frustrated.
