Hi, I've created a puppet in Illustrator and want to superimpose a pair of glasses onto it but have no idea where to begin.

Your help would be appreciated.

Marc.

Just create the glasses in s separate layer above the puppet's face?

That is what I would if I were building a puppet in Illustrator for Adobe Character Animator.

If you do not mind turning it into a vector graphic you could also take the puppet into Photoshop and then in a separate layer put in the glasses.  Then select the lenses and lower the opacity on them.

But if you want it all to be vector. Then do what I said above.

Check out how I made Tracer's goggles in Illustrator.

You would draw glasses the same way you draw anything else. What specifically are you stuck with?

Reflections can be simulated with objects of reduced opacity or Gradients with transparency for example.
