I created a custom font single character....and wish to use across the internet on LinkedIn facebook, etc. Advice please?
Or, advise how to convert it to a special character and paste the code into the above sites.
It will only display if others have the font installed.
On top of that: on Social media sites you cannot forat your text like that.
So: post it as an image.

I don't agree with this answer because I have seen many emails which use special characters, so there should be a way to create a special character that is custom and then use that across websites. The question is how to take my custom font and import it as a special character that has universal integrity

Good luck with that.
Create a webfont. But you won't be able to use it on social media.

Monika, I think you missed my point. I'm talking about ultimately creating a special character that even in present day can be used across the internet on websites. This is not a font issue since special characters are universally recognized. For example people use a red heart and a 🙂 which has a code that when pasted into a text message, appears as a graphic.

Monika is correct. You would have to save your custom character as a font file and then distribute that or host it as a web font so that your web page can call upon it when needed.
You could save your Illustrator file as SVG and place that on your web page or into your email. As long as the end user's web browers and email client support that graphic format, your special character should display as expected.

Do any of you know how to create a custom "special character" with its corresponding code? I believe control +command + spacebar brings up the special characters on iMac

Wait...
Did you design your own object that you want to use as a font?
Or.... are you just using something like õ, ø, œ, ö, ć, §, ¡, ≈ , etc.?

I designed my own icon, and I have it saved as both, an SVG and I also created a TTF, WOFF font with this single icon as letter A.

Here's how to submit your proposal for a new emoji as unicode:

(NB. the submission is currently closed due to Covid-19 pandemic and you have to wait until next April.)

Actually that is a good example, because this is how it looks on my side:
Good luck with your project.
