I've been trying to do this for hours now and I wish this application was more intuitive, this seems like it should be simple but I can't seem to get it.

I just want to make the holes in the earrings transparent and not filled with white, can someone please help guide me through how to do this?

thanks

Danielle,

It sounds as if you stopped short of deleting all the unwanted white in the original image in PS, then saved as PNG, and now you are struggling with the last bits (within the earrings).

If that is the case, I agree with Rastello: the obvious way is indeed to go back to PS and delete the unwanted bits there, in other words finish the PS job, then let Illy (job description Adobe Illustrator) help you with what she is really good at.

Is your file a png? You need to edit it in a pixel art app like photoshop.

In Illy, you could run image trace to convert to vector and then edit...

Hi! Thanks for replying and yes it is a png, but not originally I cut it
out of a white background jpeg and saved it. So now this file can only be
edited in photoshop you say?

Thank you! I'm new to this so I had no idea about a PNG not working the
same in illustrator. Appreciate the response.

For my part you are welcome, Danielle.

You can view the pair as complementary: one has its strength in raster artwork, the other in vector artwork, with a certain overlap.

To many/most, the one learned last can seem strange and difficult.
