Is it possible to update a data merge file (CSV)?
I've added a few more records to the CSV file, but Illustrator is not recognizing it.

For those finding this message in the future, there was no way to update the data merge. And to make matters worse, you have to delete all the data sets and re-insert from scratch so everything has to be linked again.

Data Merge is an InDesign feature. What are you referring to?
Also: did you try the VariableImporter script?
