Developers: Split into Grid limitations

I have a box that's 10 px high by 10 px wide. When I use the Split Into Grid command, I can't add any rows or columns.

But if I increase the size of the box to dimensions greater than 12px, I can continually add rows and columns.

I don't know why <=12px is the limitation for this command, but it's annoying. My workaround is to scale the item up, add rows and columns, and then scale it back down to my original size
