Disable new "zoom lock" feature

The way it works now by default in .ai is the Command + or - symbols will lock on the object you have selected, and zoom on it specifically.

I want to revert back to being able to zoom from where I am... Ive got 11 years experience zooming that way and I am thoroughly frustrated with this new feature...

Is there a way to turn it off? Anyone else hate this new zoom on selected object feature?

Thanks in advance!

Nope, it can't be disabled. The closest you'll get to the older behavior is using Ctrl + mousewheel up/down to zoom in and out wherever the cursor is.

It took me forever to find this setting through a google search so here it is:

Go to Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display. Uncheck "Zoom to Selection" (right column of checkboxes in CC 2020.
