Disappearing images

I am trying to embed a picture into a design but it disappears whenever I embed it!!! Whats's goung on?

What kind of picture, document color mode, Illustrator version...

Sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind sharing version of the OS & Illustrator? Does it happen while working on a specific file or using a specific graphic? Have you tried toggling the CPU/GPU Preview?
