edit a save file

Hello, I made a drawing and exported it in AI format and the next day I opened it in adobe and it cannot be edited, someone tell me if by exporting a file it can no longer be edited.Thanks

What do you mean when you said 'I opened it in adobe'? You opened the file in Illustrator, or something else?

What do you see when you open the file in Illustrator? What can you select? What object(s) are in the layers panel?
