I an trying to export a simple line drawing from Illustrator as a DXF file to use in my quilting machine's software ( Gammill's Creative Studio ) I can import other DXF files into the Gammill software easily, even some very old ones, but nothing I create in Illustrator will import. Is there a trick?

I am fairly proficient in Creative Studio but I am new to Illustrator and I would like to redraw my designs in Illustrator so that they can be used on a variety other machines. There has to be something messing it up. I cant even export a 3 point triangle and get it to load.

You would need to find out the exact specifications of the DXF file.
On top of that: ask the manufacturer of that quilting device about it.

What did you try? There are many possible settings. Please list the ones you experimented with, as well as what the machine’s specs say. DXF isn’t just a generic thing.

Can you take a screenshot of the error you receive when trying to import?
Maybe something to try;
Take the pen tool (p) in illustrator . Add points along the path everywhere. Make sure all of your strokes are expanded first.
