To begin, I'm pretty new to illustrator, So i'm really not sure what's going on.
I'm using the mesh tool to make some gradient patterns in a circle
However, with certain colours (like purple), i can't seem to get a bright puple no matter what i do. I'll select the anchor, change the colour to '#A700FF' and it will put change to '#7F3F98' instead. I've tried to change it to various other bright purples, but nothing works - it just goes back to a darker purple.
The problem with this is that I actually want a bright purple.
What am I doing wrong?

If your document is a CMYK document, it will convert your color to the closest possible CMYK color.
Use an RGB document to keep your A700FF (RGB) color.

I checked that, but my colours are already in RGB.... I tried switching to CMK and back again, but the same thing just keeps happening.
