I am trying to send my illustrator file to one of my group members for a class project and when they open the file it doesn't look like the work I desgned. There are things missing and large pink rectangles around some of the letter. The group member activated the fonts I used and it also won't let them edit. I tried to give them access to a file I created with the document in it and I clicked the option can edit but it still won't let them.

Make sure that they have the same Illustrator version as you have.

If they have an older version, save your files as Legacy files (you can choose the version in the Illustrator Save options).

You may lose some editability when saving as an older version.

In addition to what Ton said, make sure they have installed the fonts that you have used.
