I am trying to make a scientific illustration that shows spheres made up of irregular sized cells. Something similar to the examples below:
I can draw the right image relatively easy using pattern brushes, but the left one (the ball of cells) has been a complete disaster so far (i am relatively new to Illustrator and still have a lot to learn).
Can someone maybe direct me to the best way to go about drawing this?
Any help will be immensely appreciated!
You may draw it manually with the Pen tool.
You could also draw a filled path (circle), apply Effect menu > Texture > Stained Glass, expand the appearance (see Object menu), trace the raster image manually or automatically. Then use Live Paint or the Shape Builder tool to fill the cells.
And maybe comboMover could be useful too:

Thanks a lot for the suggestions!
I am getting the best results with the "stained glass" effect, but will also try the comboMover.
Drawing with the Pen is the best suggestion of ccourse, but i think i am just too bad/impatient in drawing to produce anything worth keeping...
