How can I avoid data loss when opening files from someone on older version of Illustrator?

My colleague has an older Mac at home that will only run 23.1.1 so when she opens files I've worked on or she has worked on at the office data is lost. Every time. You used to be able to save in an older format but I don't see that option anymore. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Liz

You can still save in an older format.

Just save as and then in the 2nd dialog box select the version.
