How Do You Detach Ruler Guide Line from Pen Line?

Hi, I was using the ruler guides to accurately draw my verticle/horizontal pen lines into a particular rectangle. However, when deleting the ruler guide, it also deletes my rectangle. My assumption is that the rectangle lines are attached to the guide lines. I do not know how to detach it.

Hi.

By default, Illustrator treats the guides as standard objects.

So if you marquee select over an object it selects both objects.

My advice is always to lock the guides while drawing, then if you need to delete some: unlock the guide and select just the guide.

Best Regards

One way to approach this --

Instead of selecting the guides, choose View > Guides > Clear Guides.
