How do you import, copy, or carry over Layer Effects?

Is there a way to copy layers and objects WITH their effect properties from one open file to another? I'd even be happy to know of to import layers if it means the effects properties will be imported too.

You need objects on the layers.

And the layers need to be sub layers (not main layers)

Then copy the objects. You need to turn on "Remember layers" in the layer panel menu. And then paste. In the target document move the layers out of the main layer if you need them  to be main layers.
