How to arrange work for printing on a regular home printer

I have designed some large fashion patterns that I would like to print out on A3 paper. How can I arrange my work either using Artboards in Illustrator, or InDesign, so it prints to scale (i.e. 1cm = 1cm when printed at 100%) but across multiple pages. I will be using home/office printers so unable to utilise bleed or crop options.

I believe this technique is called "PDF Plotting" in the printing world, but I can't find any resources online of use.

I hope I have described my problem well enough. Thank you for your help!
