Hello, I'm trying to place white behind certain parts of a label that will be printed on a metallic substrate. Typically if it was vector art, I have no problems doing this, however what i'm trying to put white behind are linked images. I saved the linked image and brought it into photoshop and added a spot white channel and made the image a solid fill color. However, when I bring it into illustrator, it's still technically an image so I can't name it 'spot white' which is my swatch name for printing white ink. What is the best way to create a white overlay for an image?
Thanks!
In Photoshop, name the spot channel as spot white.
