how to extend point type visible area in illustrator ?

Hi evryone. 

I created a point type text and added a quassian blur effect. Since the text has rectangular boundy, the effect was applied only inside of the rectangle. Is there any way of extending rectangle to see the guassian blur effect broader?  I need editible quassion blur effect applied text.

Does it help if you go to the Effect menu > Document Raster Effects Settings and increase the Add Around Object setting there?
