I'm converting a stack of .eps files to .svg as we move to a different publishing environment. Normally it's only Illustrator's insistence on replacing Arial with ArialMT that requires an extra pass outside Illustrator, but this morning I've hit something new: .jpg files included in the original .eps. I can delete the reference in the .svg version, but I want to locate them in the original .eps so I can check whether they even need to be there. You know what other people's .eps is like ;-}
Thanks in advance for any tips.
Progress! Window > Links brings up a dialogue that does almost everything I need … except for letting me delete the linked items.
But persistence pays off. Click on the red-background ? to select an individual link, select Go to link from the three-bar menu, and a marquee appears in the Illustrator drawing. Press Del … job done. It could have been easier, though.

Just to clarify: you want to do this automatically? With a script or an action?

Thanks for the quick reply, Monika – I'm hoping this will be something I don't need to do at all often, but if have a sequence of steps I can record as an action that would be good. They aren't something I've needed to use much before.

Have you already tried if the plugin Select Menu works for this?

If it works, you could also include it in an action.

Hm – I'll check that, though I may have trouble installing plug-ins in a fairly paranoid corporate environment. In the meantime, at least I've worked out the source of the problem: whoever made these pictures of product box labels found some barcode samples somewhere, and every time I save an .eps file as .svg a new .jpg is created for each barcode. Very strange! especially as deleting the .jpg files makes no visible difference to the .svg files. When I've made my own labels recently I've used a free site that generates barcodes as .svg – no problem there ;-}
