How to snap the path to the grid ?

I am using "snap to grid" but the items are always shifted and not snaping to the grid properly to work precistly and in uniform.

It seems like the upper or lower part of the stroke is snapping to the grid, which leaves a bunch of misallingment when I try to draw and place items in a certain exact postion in reference to each other and the grid.

How can I fix that?

See below picture in which the stroke is snapping to the grid instead of the actual path which contains the actual object dimensions.
