I have a macbook pro and I have the latest update on illustrator. Until today, I have never had a problem with zooming in/out using my touch pad. Please advise, I understand that this was an issue once before approximately a year ago. Thank you.
Erik
I just fixed it thank you! All I did was restart my computer.. must of been a Mac thing.

Hello!
I have also had this issue on my MacBook since the update. Restarting is always a solid option but can be time consuming.
I have recently found a little work around though.
In the touchbar on your macbook, select the presentation mode icon, in presentation mode you are able to zoom in/out, do either of these to assure the artboard is no longer in the same position. Then simply exit presentation mode! Problem should be fixed!

Hi,
It could be the reason of corrupted preferences or may be the update . You did not mention which version of Illustrator you are using. You can try trashing the preferences of Illustrator.
Recreating preferences:
Open Finder and on the top Left you will see option Go.
Click on Go and Go to Folder and type "~/Library" without the quotation marks.
Click on the "Go" button to reveal your "Library" folder and locate the "Preferences" folder that contains your Illustrator settings folder.
Rename Illustrator settings folder to old Illustrator settings.
** Path for preferences folder:
/Users/<youruserprofilename>/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator (version) Settings
Useful link:
Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 and later
Also you can try these links which talks about updates:

Hi,
Good to know that the issue is resolved. May be after the update the restart was pending.
Thanks,
Nikhil Gupta.

I have the same issue with my Mac. So far I have just been restarting my Mac to fix it but I am finding the 2 finger pinch and spread to zoom in and out has stopped working more frequently and I am getting tired of constantly having to restart my Mac every time I want to fix the issue.

I found where my preference files are but it looks like I have 3 different Illustrator preferences folders "adobe illustrator 21 settings", "adobe illustrator 22 settings", "adobe illustrator 23 settings". Do I delete all 3?

I've been having the same problem here...
I use Illustrator every day in my work, and each day its different. Somedays it works fine, others stop working. Sadly the second its happening more than the first.
Im using a macbook pro 15 - Sierra 10.12.6. And Illustrator 22.1.
I use a Wacom table, don't know if that influences in anything.
Please help!
Thanks!

I found it happening after I started using my Huion drawing tablet. If I unplug the tablet's USB when not in use, then I don't have the problem with the pinch zoom. If I leave the USB plugged into my computer, then the pinch zoom stops working. Hope this helps.
