Our creative department creates many illustrator files that use a linked file which is basically a PDF with a single text field (which contains the text "XXXXXXXX").  We have an automated process that replaces the X's with a date code.

The date code PDF is using Arial as the font.  Nothing special, just plain old Arial.  We use a universal font client to manage our font usage.  It can open the date code PDF without issue.  However, when the creative crew links the file to one of their Illustrator files, the font shows up as IBAAAA+Arial, which our font client cannot find.

I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how I can stop it?  It's kinda hard to have an automated procedure that hangs up everytime it opens a file because it can't find this mysterious font.

FWIW, the creative department are all using Macs while the automated processes are all running on PCs.
