Illustrator 2019 & 2020 not responding on macOS 10.14.6

After the latest Update both Versions of Illustrtator fail to respond when I try to start them ("Program not responding" in dock). I have to manually end the process.

Last time this happened I had at least CC2019 to fall back to. Why exactly is Adobe taking almost 60 EUR per month when I have to switch to Affinity after every second update until the next update "unbrakes" it again? This is getting really tiresome.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your experience. We'll be happy to troubleshoot this. Would you mind sharing exact version of Adobe Illustrator 2020?
I'd recommend resetting the preferences of Adobe Illustrator once. Please follow instructions below:

  • Close all Adobe applications.
  • Go to locations
  • ~/Library/Caches
  • ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
  • ~/Library/Preferences
  • Rename Adobe Illustrator, com.adobe.illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 24 Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old, com.adobe.illustrator.old and Adobe Illustrator 24 Settings.old
  • Launch Illustrator from the Creative Cloud.

**Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and Illustrator will launch with default settings. This way all your old settings will be saved in .old folders and Illustrator will recreate new folders with default settings.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards.

Ashutosh

Thanks for the reply!

The preference resetting is my go-to anyway 🙂 I didn't manage to get it to run (even with removing all third-party Plug-ins) but the next update a few days later seemingly fixed the problem and I can use both version of Illustrator again. I really don't why Illustrator stops working every other update...

Thanks anyway!

Regards,

Jan
