Illustrator 2021 automatically expands strokes after pasting

I just updated my Illustrator to the newest versiona nd now when I copy an item with a stroke from one Illustrator window to another it automatially expands the stroke. How can I prevent this from happening. It apparently only happens if I have a gradient set for the stroke. I know I could just set a random color as the stroke and then re-apply the gradient in the new document but that is an uncessary step I shouldn't have to do. Help please.

Do you have a clipboard enhancement installed in your system?

Not that I know of. I just have the main Creative Suit apps nothing additional downloaded.

That could be something installed in your system.

There are different threads about this stuff in the forum. If I remember correctly for some people this has also been caused by antivirus.

Sorry to hear about this trouble. I agree with the suggestions shared by Monika. To confirm this, I would suggest if you could try booting to system to Safe mode and check how it works there.

It starts your system so that it performs certain checks and prevents third party software/ services from automatically loading or opening. If it works fine in Safe mode, then there is some third party service or application like antivirus, plugins or web extensions which are conflicting with the Illustrator. 

If that doesn't help try resetting Illustrator preferences and let us know how it goes. 

Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.
