I am running Illustrator 24.3 on a brand new 27 inch iMac, and it's crashing frequently. Occasionnally I get a message saying it's due to an issue with GPU Processing. Illustrator is far too slow to use without GPU Processing swithched on, and I never had this issue on my 6-year old laptop.

I have tried several things – changing the name of the preference folder, and uninstalling and reinstalling Illustrator.

The problem is persisting and is a real issue that's affecting my productivity. Please advise. Thanks.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your experience. In addition to steps suggested by @assause, please try the instructions below and let us know if they help:

  1. Try booting the system into Safe Mode (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/x-productkb/global/start-safe-boot-mode-mac.html) and check how it works there. Hi there,

  1. Try booting the system into Safe Mode (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/x-productkb/global/start-safe-boot-mode-mac.html) and check how it works there. It starts your system so that it performs certain checks and prevents third party software/ services from automatically loading or opening. If it works fine in Safe mode, then there is some third party service or application like antivirus, plugins or web extensions which are conflicting with the Illustrator.
  2. If that doesn't help either, login to root account (https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT204012). Check how the application works there. If it works fine there, then it could be related to permission errors. Follow these steps to repair permission errors: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/kb/preferences-folder-read-only-error.html
  3. If nothing helps, then we need to troubleshoot this on a live session. Please head here (https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html) and select the chat button in the lower-right corner of the page. We can help on a live session that way.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Ashutosh

I would like to hear some followup on this. What steps resolved your GPU issue?
