Hi,

So randomly new problem that's happened recently, Illustrator just crashes on launch. Ive tried resetting the preferences, manually.

Have used cc cleaner to remove and reinstall. Only version 24.0.2 is working for me, anything newer is crashing on startup/create new

PC Specs

Windows 10 - 1909 (updated after the crashing problem, not before).

Ram - 16gb

GTX 2060 Super

Ryzen 7 - 1700 (old but its what I had when illustrator wasn't crashing)

Help Please

Hi,

Thank you everyone for trying to help with the problem. I finally got a fix, my NVIDIA driver updates came in late and Illustrator worked just fine after I installed them.

Thank you Again!

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Please make sure you have your OS and GPU updated to the latest version. I would request if you can try the following steps and share your observation:

1. Please try booting the system into Safe Mode (https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode) and check how it works there. It starts your system so that it performs certain checks and prevents third party software/ services from automatically loading or opening. If it works fine in Safe mode, then there is some third party service or application like antivirus, plugins or web extensions which are conflicting with the Illustrator.

2. If that doesn't help either, login to Hidden Admin account (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfbMs3w-Z3s&t=53s). Check how the application works there. If it works fine there, then it could be related to permission errors. Follow these steps to repair permission errors: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/kb/preferences-folder-read-only-error.html

3. If nothing helps, then we need to troubleshoot this on a live session. Please head here (https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html) and click on the chat button in the lower-right corner of the page.

Regards,

Ashutosh

Hey there c: my illustrator is also crashing randomly. I've tried so many things, and you tip with the safe mode helped in the end. Now I don't know how to figure out what is causing the issues that it's only working properly in safe mode. Can you help me with that?

Best Regards

Maxim

Hi,

We're extremely sorry to hear about this issue. I can completely understand the frustration at this point. I would request if you could try following these steps and share your observations:

  • Open the crash report given by Illustrator.
  • If you see anything like
    Faulty module path: Module/Library : OffsetPDFSuite.aip
Crashed Thread:   36 com.adobe.ccx.start - UXP JavaScript Thread
    UXP crash report.png

  • Go to following locations and rename "extentions" to "extensions_old"
    Windows:  Program files /common files /Adobe /UXP /extensions
    MAC: /library > application support > Adobe > UXP > extensions

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Srishti
