Illustrator default colour

Hi

When i create a shape and make the fill and stroke the default back and white, then I need to manually always do the black because the default black isn't the blackest it can be. In the colour picker panel, the little widget isn't in the bottom corner, it is further up.

How can I make it so that it just goes straight to 100% black?

If you are working in a CMYK document, 100% K, 100% black ink is not as dark as an RGB black.

If you want a darker color you need to add some CMY inks to it.

oh right 

so if i do an image that is 100% k and then another that has colour picker widget right in the corner, will they look different when printed?

Are you working in an RGB or CMYK document?

Is your artwork meant for printing on a professional printing press or a color printer or for screens/web?
