Illustrator document set up for various work

Hi,

I'm a newbie

Are there any particular guidlines, recommended rules for document set up for different types of wor?

I usually open an A4 document when creating art work and logos. 

I want to create tshirt designs and logos, icon , badges.  But should you set up a document,artboar etc in specific dimensions for each of these?

Be sure to work in RGB for screens/web/apps/video and CMYK for print.

 

For artboard sizing, it's best to create art at the size it's intended to be used (typically measured in pixels for screens/web/apps, or inches/mm/cm for print). With your graphics made at the correct size, the artboard can sometimes match, or be slightly larger so you have extra space around the art, or much larger with multiple versions on a single artboard.
