Illustrator freezing while using files from Dropbox

I know that this topic has already been discussed, but I do not know if it is related to the dropbox.

For several days I have been struggling with an almost one-second lag.
I even thought about buying a new computer: D

After copying the file to the local disk, turning off the dropbox, illustrator works at the speed of light.

Why is this happening? After all, the directory with the file is local and only synchronized when saving. I'm wrong?

Hi there,

Sorry for the inconvenience. Illustrator does not support (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/kb/illustrator-support-networks-removable-media.html) network or removable drives as scratch disks or folders of file sync services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, and iCloud. Many variables affect application performance when you save and open files across a network or from removable media.

Alternatively,  I would recommend you try saving the files as a cloud document on Creative Cloud. By doing that, you will have access files on the go, autosave files to the cloud and track version history. To know more about how to create and save Illustrator cloud documents, visit this link https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/cloud-documents.html. I hope this help resolve your issue.

If you need any assistance in future, do reach out.

Thanks & Regards,
Anshul Saini

Cloud documents are not the only option.

You have a CC account, so you can also sync your files by saving them in your local CC files folder.

They automatically get versioned (you can go back to previous file versions for at least 10 days ago).

And don't forget to still make traditonal backups as well...

I don't use adobe cloud. On forums (including here too)
network services are considered to slow down adobe apps..

I use db only because it is required by the company I work with.
