illustrator new update issues

Hi so I have been having some issues with the new AI update- whenever I try and click anywhere, for example, moving an element, or changing the leading, or basically anything, the system runs really really slow and the spinning circle keeps coming up on my screen. I have tried quitting AI multiple times, restarting my computer, and so forth. Nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

Nope — resetting the preferences didn't resolve anything. I'm still waiting patiently as Illustrator struggles to move simple shapes, etc.
