I have been recently started working on Illustrator CS6 and am slowly learning as I go and I encountered a problem while working with colour and swatches.

So I was creating several gradients in a file and the method through which I save colour swatches is:

1. De-selecting everyhting,

2. Selecting the colour picker tool and load it with the colour I require from the shapes(regardless of the shapes being of solid colour or gradient fill),

3. Click on the 'save swatch' option,

4. Load the gradient stop with the colour swatch.

Now it was working alright but after a point whenever I pick a colour with the picker tool and save it, it autumatically saves as 'gradient swatch' instead of 'colour swatch', and the dilogue box which used to appear as 'save colur swatch' doesn't appear anymore, instead there is a dialogue box for 'save gradient swatch'.

I used to pick colours off of shapes with gradient fill easily as 'solid colour' but now whenever I pick it turns into gradient option automatically.

I want the default 'save colour swatch' back from 'save gradient swatch' This is really frustrating please someone give em a solution to this.

If you want to pick a single solid color from a gradient, press shift when clicking on it with the eyedropper tool.
