Illustrator takes too long to save

Hi, 
after hitting save and then close file, illustrator always says '...Illustrator is still saving.... '. and won't let me quit.
If I open the same doc in cs6, (backsaved separately from the original of course...) save and quit.... no issues.

Docs have text, a couple of pics 

Do I have something set wrong?

Does it help when you uncheck the Background save option in the preferences?

Hi, thanks, yes.... back to normal now. I can deal with the save time. I can see where that option may be useful for some.
