Illustrator version compatibility

We have a customer who uses Illustrator CC v22 and we are using v23 (we don't particularaly want to roll back a version). If we create an artwork in v23 will the customer see/have any compatibilty issues opening this file in v 22.

Are there any known compatiblity issues between these versions

Check the what's new for CC2019. If you use the Freeform Gradient or South East Asian languages, you may find compatibility problems.

Much appreciated, do you know if there's a warning screen when opening (in v22) if freeform gradients are present?

No, there is no warning in CC 2018. 

The freeform gradient will become uneditable when opened in v22 and show as "Non-Native Art".
