Illustrator will not move object with selection tool

Hi, I have been having a lot of problems since the upgrade. Right now, I can select an object, pull the squares to resize but if I try to move the object around, it won't budge.  It will move if I use the direction keys. I restarted my computer but it is all just the same. I have no idea what to do, I can work. Thanks, holly

Hi Holly,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind sharing version of the OS & Illustrator?  Does it happen with a specific object on the document? Did you try repeating the process on a new document?

If the app behaves the same, please try resetting preferences of the app & let us know if it helps.

**Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. The location is mentioned in the article.

Thank you, I will do these things. I think maybe what was happening is that the selection tool works differently in this latest version and that I had no idea and thought it was broken. I was not alerted to the change but I am going to try to find a tutorial and start at square one with the selection tool. Thank you.
