Illustrator works very slow on MacBook Pro

Hi, I have a brandnew MacBook Pro and wanted to work with svg-files imported from openstreetmaps.com. Problem: file loads very slowly and every step takes about 30 seconds. One can not work like that. Any ideas how to solve this problem???

OpenStreetMap files are typically very large with a lot of elements in them.

my OpenstreetMap file has 5.3 MB

MacBook Pro (16-inch)

processor: 2,6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7

RAM: 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4

graphics: AMD Radeon Pro 5300M 4 GB, Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

I have  a similar Macbook with a slightly older Processor. OSM files are just slow, because there are so many objects. They are not necessarily large, but still there is a lot of stuff in them.

But why does it work on a windows PC much faster?
