imaged traced shape wont minus front or back from vector

I image traced a png file
I placed that on another vector 
In type I know to creat outlines to cut out from bottom layer.

But these are not type...
What am I missing...

Have you expanded the Image Trace, and is there one Group (containing whatever you wish to cut out, or what happens if you obtain that?
