Images collected into one clipping mask

Hi, for some reason, after I have closed a page of six separate images down and then reopen that same page all of the images have collected together and are hidden within one clipping mask. This is a lot of work to try to restore the page to six separate images as when I try to do so every line and fill is separated. Does ny have any solutions?

Thanks

This sounds like you have saved a PDF (without "Illustrator editing function")

The only other alternative is that your file got corrupted.

Exactly what did you save exactly where using exactly which options?

Did you save as .ai or as .pdf? It looks like you have opened a pdf that was saved without Illustrator editing capabilities, or the file got corrupted and you are stuck with the pdf part.

HI Betreff, Ton and Monika, well, sadly this was about two months or more ago, so I can not remeber the exact method of saving the images. However I usually save  as Command sS not Save As. We are a company and so it is possible that someone else opened the page to create a PDF and not included Illustrator editing capabilities. Is there anyway back from this? The only thing I can think of is to go back through Time Machine and File storage and backup

Yes, a backup would probably help in this case.

As a company you might want to set up some rules for people working with others' and their own files, such as when saving a PDF,  always use "Save a copy".

There are issues with just using Cmd + S in some circumstances that may lead to this kind of corruption as well. They are linked to saving on servers and to the setting "Save in background" in the Illustrator preferences. You can turn that off safely. You will then not be able to continue working while Illustrator saves your file.

Thanks everyone we will discuss these findings in our company meeting tomorrow, looks like we will have to downlod the pages we work on onto our harddiscs and then upload them again, could be a bit of a pain doing that...
