Import .AI layers too current Active Document.

Hello. I am trying to load an .ai file and copy all its layers to my current active document.  Is there a way to do it? I tried to use groupItem.createFromFile but is not working as expected. I would like to find the way to read each layer by layer. Thanks

Turning on "Paste remembers layers" in the menu of the layers panel does not help?
