I am drawing very long lines (about 40") and want to rotate them from one end and very precisely place the other end, which I need to use the Zoom tool to get in close and see what I am doing. This means I have to drag the curser all the way from where I drop the rotate marker to the other end. If I use the Zoom tool I lose my rotate point. Does anyone know how to zoom in without losing my point? Thanks.
You could try if 2 windows for the same document works (Window > New Window) and tiled (Window > Arrange > Tile)
One with the entire line, the other zoomed in to the other end.
Set the rotation center in the overview window, switch to the zoomed one and drag the endpoint.

In any case you can, Smart Guides being your friends:
1) Add a temporary circle that has W = H = 80", centred on the end Anchor Point you need to keep in place;
2) Group the line and the circle;
3) Switch to the Rotate Tool, zoom in on the other end Anchor Point and ClickDrag the Group by it until it is in place;
4) Ungroup and delete the circle.
If it is a simple line with only two end Anchor Points, you can drop the initial line and grouping, and:

1) Create a temporary circle that has W = H = 80" and is centred where you wish to have the permanent end Anchor Point;
2) Zoom to the relevant Anchor Point on the circle, switch to the Rotate Tool, and ClickDrag the circle by it until it is in place;
3) Zoom out and ClickDrag with the Line (Segment) Tool between the centre and the Anchor Point, snapping to both;
4) Delete the circle.
Edit: Hi Ton. Thaw came a week ago here.
