Hi guys! I'm using the Inktober excuse to make use of some Illustrator tools and possibilities.
In day 1 I diceded to make the fish from Mario but i got stucked when was time to add the shadows.
Right now the only path that I could think is to create a new layer in the belly and the red body and then add a circular gradient (Transparent -> Black)
I think the hardest part for me at the moment is the wing.
Can you guys give some tips and advices for me to get better in adding shadows? 🙂
Hi try to work with gradiend mesh that is more suitable for this thing....regards

In addition to the already mentioned gradient meshes, you can also try freeform gradients (if your version has them).

But a lot of the time you will also need additional objects when shading. It's not uncommon to stack a couple of shapes for shading and then blending them into the existing ones.
