Live Corner feature not working on star tool

Hi everyone! I am very new to Illustrator. I am just working on creating basic shapes and other simple things, so far. For some reason, I cannot get the Live Corners tool to work when I create a shape with the star tool. It is working just fine on the rectangle tool though. Thanks for your help!

Did you try to select the star with the Direct Selction tool (A)?
