I want to remake this five, but I don't know what effect or method is used to remove the space behind the five. Any advice or information on how to?

With the ellipse tool draw a circle and position it where you need it

Create the 5 using the Text Tool.

Then under the Objects menu, Expand it.

The create a circle on the layer above.

Select both layers.

Then you can subtract the circle from the expanded '5'.

Using Illustrator or Photoshop?

What format is the file?

What you are calling 'space behind the five" the blue background or the white of the 5 ?

I'm using illustrator to make to the logo. The image above is a png if that is the file you are referring to. I'm referring to the curve in the back of the 5 and as of right now, if I remove the blue background the curve isn't visible shown.

You want to replicate the number 5 cut or bitten on the curved side at right. Easier to grasp.
