Hi guys, today I just tried to use Illustrator on my new Mac with Big sur installed, but it was pratically impossible. The program was causing the computer to block repeatedly with only using the pen tool, also when i was not directly on the program it caused problems on the computer. Tomorrow I'm going to an Apple store to be sure it has nothing to do with my computer, but I'm already pretty sure it's not because before today it didn't had any problem. Also, I wanted to know if some of you know if this has anything to do with the fact that the new Apple processor, maybe the apps are not yet optimized to work on them? I don't know, just guessing.

Thank you!

Hi Alice,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Adobe is actively working to build apps that run natively on Apple computers using the Apple Silicon M1 chip. Many of our existing apps can run on M1 devices using Apple's Rosetta 2 technology.

Please find more information about it on this help article(https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/apple-silicon-m1-chip.html).

Additionally, you may follow suggestions given on this community post(https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/resolve-slow-performance-and-unexpected-behaviors-in-illustrator/td-p/11561981

Thank you! But even using Rosetta, Illustrator still does not work. I guess I just have to wait for the release of the programs but I have to work on them, so are there any news about the realease dates? It's really important for me otherwise I can not work and I'm just spending money on programs that I can't use 😞

Hi there,

We have recently released an update for Illustrator 2021 (v 25.1) which should work with M1 machines. If you are not already on v25.1, then we recommend you to update to latest version and let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Srishti
