Making the stroke an image

Hello all. I'm quite new to illustrator, so go easy on me. I have a logo that I made, but I want to make the stroke for the logo, an image. Any thought's on how too?

Can you show what you mean? I'm unsure from your post.

Basically, I want to apply this image to the black strokes. Kinda like this persons logo (https://twitter.com/_younite)

Place the logo over the image (make sure the logo is in front). Select both. In the transparency panel, click 'make mask', then tick 'invert mask'.
