Missing Tools in Illustrator UI

Hi, I am completely self taught on AI and still have a huge amount to learn.  I have just changed my Computer and downlaoded AI and none of the normal applications are in te tool bar, eg, font drop down and size, the colours etc etc.  I am sure it is staring me in the face and i am being very thick but where are they! and how do i get them back lol

I'm not sure if I understand you right.

But maybe you mean the Control Bar (above your documents) ?

In this case menu: View --> Control

should help you.

If the tools in your toolbar are not what you want, go to the three dots at the bottom of your tool palette and you can gain access to any of the tools you want, you can either set it up for the advanced tools or drag the tools you like to the toolbar.
