So I had a group of shapes, locked. I then unlocked to activate the eraser.
Now I get these circles leave whereever I erase.
I didn't have this problem with my work yesterday.
Please provide help.

Are you trying to erase just the veins in the leaf? It's also 'erasing' -- punching holes through -- the leaf outline, hence what you see there.
If you want to just erase the veins, select them first.

Thanks Doug,
I don't think that is what is happening. The veins are not connected to the leaf. I want to erase the whole leaf a little at a time saving each version that run it backwards in After Effects so it looks somewhat like it is being drawn.
It must be a set-up when I started that leaf because I have another leaf on same page that is not doing this.
Thanks for the help.
A frustrating problem.

Although Doug, selecting the vein works, but its an extra step that I did not need to do on the first leaf.
Will use this solution, but it requires one extra step.

It requires one extra step a multiple of times.
Thanks

Sorry, two actions for each select. Time consuming.

its actual more than a couple of extra actions turning on selection tool, selecting, turning on erase tool deleting the section.

Do you know if you are erasing strokes or fills?
If you were erasing strokes, they would disappear wherever you clicked or dragged with the eraser. If they are fills, they will behave as you see now.
Since the behavior changed from when you did this earlier, did you by any chance go to Path > Outline Stroke?
Select one vein and show a screen shot so we can see if it's a fill or stroke (my guess is that it's a fill.) We might also need to see it in outline view and look at the Layers panel.

Try to lock only the leave shape.

If your outer leaf shape has a fill, you would get the result you see there.
Perhaps your other leaf does not. Please check this.
