Newbie question--how to create retro 50's sci-fi type

Does anyone know how to create this text effect in illustrator? I know how to drop shadow and outline, mostly asking about the decreasing scale/angle of the letters!

You could try Touch Type (Shift T) to scale and position the letters and use the 3D effect.
